Vermont Artist Loft

Drawing from meaningful connections in the client’s life, this renovation transformed a dated carriage house into an inspiring and artful space designed to showcase an impressive art collection.

Carefully selected materials create a refined backdrop for dynamic artworks displayed on custom built-ins and arranged salon-style on the walls. Black paneling was added to soften the overwhelming complexity of the expansive ceiling geometry.

The artist chooses to live among the collection—drinking from rare ceramic cups and displaying intriguing sculptures alongside cookbooks—blurring the line between high art and craft.

Inspired by the curves and forms of Detroit's auto industry, where our client grew up, the materials harmonize the industrial influences of their urban upbringing with the handcrafted culture of Vermont.
